News Desk :: A court today (4 December) showed a total of nine people, including former ministers – Anisul Huq, Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, and Zunaid Ahmed Palak arrested in five fresh cases filed with the three different police stations in the capital.
The five other arrestees are – former NBR chairman Nozibur Rahman, former lawmaker Sadek Khan, Awami League leaders – Rokeya Jaman and Jamal Mostofa, and former constable Shoaibur Rahman.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Imran Ahammed passed the orders as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases.
Of the nine, Anisul, Palak, and Sadek were shown arrested in the case filed with the capital’s Mohammadpur Police Station over an alleged attempt to murder while launching an attack on BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s motorcade in 2015.
Hasanul Haque Inu, Menon, and Anisul were shown arrested in a case lodged with the Shahbagh Police Station. Nozibur was shown arrested in the BNP activist Mokbul killing case, while Rokeya and Mostofa were shown arrested in the case over Jubo Dal leader Shamim killing case.
Shoaibur was shown arrested in the Jibon murder case filed with the capital’s Paltan Police Station.
