BNP, its allies inciting workers in RMG wage hike movement: Quader

Desk News :: The ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday alleged that the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allies were inciting the readymade garment workers in their minimum wage hike movement.

Responding to a reporter’s question at a joint meeting between AL and AL Dhaka north city unit and Dhaka south city unit at the party headquarters on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka city, the AL leader also blamed BNP and its allies for spreading rumour.

‘It is clear that BNP and its allies’ black hands are extended over the movement. They are inciting them (garments workers) and spreading rumour. They are trying to confuse workers through incitement and provocation,’ said Quader.

He said that RMG workers wage was increased to Tk 12,500, a 56 per cent increase.

Quader, also the road, transport and bridges minister, urged the RMG workers to understand the country’s situation.

‘We have two tasks before the election. One is taking preparation for the election and another is to ensure electoral environment fighting against the BNP and its allies ambush attacks,’ Quader directed leaders and activists.

AL joint secretaries Hasan mahmud and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, its organsing secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and office secretary Biplab Barua, among others were present at the meeting.
