Entertainment Desk News :: Organisers of Celebrity Cricket League on Saturday night postponed the tournament and filed a case after two teams engaged in a brawl at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Friday night.
The brawl took place between the celebrity players of two teams headed by filmmakers Mostafa Kamal Raz and Dipankar Dipon.
Several players were injured and six were taken to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in the capital.
The organisers on Saturday held a press conference at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium where the tournament was supposed to conclude on the same day.
CCL organiser GNext chief executive Mohammad Masud, Mostafa Kamal Raz, Dipankar Dipon and film producer Arshad Adnan, among others, were present at the press conference.
Mohammad Masud said that the organisers collected and evaluated video footage of the incident from multiple sources.
Outsiders were involved in the incident and legal action was being taken against the attackers, said Masud, adding that a case was filed against the attackers, however, he did not mention the name of the police station with which the case was filed and information about alleged attackers.
Dipankar Dipon said that six players of his team were injured during the incident and his team was not in the condition to participate in the tournament.
Arshad Adnan said that the players of the teams led by Raz or Dipon were not responsible for the incident, and outsiders were to blame.
The organisers did not clarify when the tournament will resume but said that they would make an announcement soon.
