News Desk :: Leaders of Rickshaw Van Easy-bike Sramik Union on Sunday at a protest rally in Dhaka called on the government to stop illegal extortion from rickshaw van and easy-bikes in the name of card and token.
Rickshaw Van Easy-bike Sramik Union organised the rally in front of the National Press Club.
Advisor to the organisation and central leader of Communist Party of Bangladesh Abdullah Kafee Ratan said that the law enforcers and some vested quarters were collecting huge amount of money from the rickshaw van and easy-bike owners in Dhaka city every day in the name of card token.
He called on the government to stop the illegal extortions immediately.
Chaired by vice president of the organisation Abdul Hakim Maizbhandari, advisors to the organisation Ragib Ahsan Munna, Mantu Ghosh, general secretary Abdul Quddus and others spoke at the rally. The rally was followed by a march towards DMP headquarter but police stopped the marchers near Kadam fountain.
Later, a four member delegation, led by Abdul Hakim Maizbhandari, handed over a memorandum to the DMP commissioner.
