News Desk :: A letter has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting to contact India to facilitate the return of ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
The adviser shared this information while responding to journalists at a function held at the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters in the capital today.
He said, there is no bar to bringing Sheikh Hasina back following the extradition treaty. Jahangir also announced the formation of a seven-member investigation commission to probe the BDR killings.
He said that Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus signed the document regarding the commission’s formation yesterday (22 December) night. Sheikh Hasina fled to India on 5 August in the face of a mass uprising led by students across the country. She has been in India since then.
