A Sylhet court on Sunday granted five days to interrogate Hifzur Rahman in police custody in the case filed over killing his wife and two children at his home of Binnakandi Dakshin Para at Fatehpur union under Goainghat upazila in the district early Wednesday.

Goainghat police inspector Dilip Kanta Nath, also investigation officer in the triple murder case, confirmed New Age in this regard.

He said that Hifzur, 35, was discharged from Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in the morning, and was produced before a district judicial magistrate by police seeking 7 days’ remand for him.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, Goainghat police recovered the bodies of Hifzur’s wife Aleya Begum, 27, their son Mizan, 8, and daughter Tanisa, 3, from his house.

Hifzur was found in an unconscious state with several marks of injuries in different parts of his body and admitted to the SOMCH. A blood-soaked bill hook was also seized from the house, police said.

Aleya’s father Ayub Ali filed a case over the murders with the police against several unidentified people in the night.

Police assumed that Hifzur had murdered his wife and two children following a quarrel with his wife. He has been suffering from mental disorder for several years, the police said.
