Habib got a boat ticket for Sylhet-3 seat

The Awami League has announced its candidates in the by-elections for three parliamentary seats. The names of the candidates were announced at a meeting of the Awami League’s Nomination Board chaired by Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina at 11am today. Those who got boat tickets in three constituencies are Agakhan Mintu in Dhaka-14 constituency, Abul Hashem Khan in Comilla-5 constituency and Habibur Rahman Habib in Sylhet-3 constituency.

The by-elections for these three constituencies will be held on July 14 (Wednesday). The last day to submit nomination papers for these seats is June 15 (Tuesday). Nomination papers will be selected on 16th June (Thursday). The last day for withdrawal of nomination papers is June 23 (Wednesday). Symbols will be assigned on June 24 (Thursday).

On March 11, Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury, Member of Parliament for Sylhet-3 and vice-president of the district Awami League, died of a coronary heart attack.

Aslamul Haque of Awami League, the ruling party in Dhaka-14 constituency, died of a heart attack on April 4 at a private hospital in the capital.Besides, Abdul Matin Khasru, a former law minister, Awami League president-elect and a five-time member of parliament from Comilla-5 constituency, died on April 14 while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. That seat is vacant.
