Manzoor Rashid elected as IFB President, Rakibul Hasan as Secretary General

News Desk :: Professor Dr. A. Z. M. Manzoor Rashid, from the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, has been elected as the new President of the Institution of Foresters, Bangladesh (IFB). Md. Rakibul Hasan Mukul, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests, Bangladesh Forest Department and Executive Director of the Arannayk Foundation, has been elected as the new Secretary General, currently serving as the Organizing Secretary at the IFB.

The biennial election of IFB was held on Saturday through electronic voting.

Founded in 2018, IFB comprises forestry professionals holding undergraduate and advanced degrees from four universities in Bangladesh and abroad. The organization works for the professional development of its members while providing policy support to the government and raising public awareness for the conservation of forests, biodiversity, ecosystems, and the environment. The newly elected committee has pledged to unite all members in transforming IFB into a dynamic and world-class organization.

In the election, 27 candidates contested for 19 positions. Dr. Md. Mijanur Rahman has been elected as Vice President, while Md. Nazmus Sadath, Mohammad Abdul Motaleb, Sayeed Mahmud Riadh will serve as Joint Secretary Generals. Other elected members are, Treasurer Md. Belal Uddin Biswas, Joint Treasurer: Md. Ramzan Ali, Organizing Secretary Md Ashraful Haque, Joint Organizing Secretaries Md. Habibul Hasan and Nisat Rahman Mithun, Publication Secretary Tasnima Mukit, Joint Publication Secretary G. M. Masum Billah, Research and Development Secretary Md. Saifur Rahman, IR & Communication Secretary Orchisman Dutta, Legal Secretary Md. Tohidul Islam, Welfare Secretary: Md. Tabiur Rahman, Office Secretary Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Communication Secretary: Md. Mirza Asadul Kibriya, Career Development Secretary Md. Modinul Ahsan, Cultural & Sports Secretary Md. Farhan Haque Prince. The elected General Members are Ahmed Shamim Al Razi, Abdullah Al-Mamun, Ajit Kumar Rudra, Md Zaheer Iqbal, Md. Hasan Ali, and Syed Mehdi Hasan.

The new committee will officially take charge on 15th December for a two-year term.
