Entertainment Desk News :: Popular Bangladeshi actress Mehazabien Chowdhury is currently making waves at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) with her debut film ‘Saba.’ The movie, directed by Maksud Hossain, is the sole Bangladeshi representation at this year’s festival.
‘Saba’ has been selected for TIFF’s Discovery programme, which showcases first and second features from emerging filmmakers worldwide. The film had its world premiere on September 7, followed by a second screening on September 8. Mehazabien, along with co-star Mostafa Monwar and director Maksud Hossain, attended the screenings and participated in discussions about the film. A third screening is scheduled for September 14th.
After the September 8 showing, Mehazabien was spotted in Toronto carrying a bouquet of white lilies, dressed in a black short gown. The actress shared several photos from the event on her verified Facebook page on September 11, which quickly garnered numerous comments from fans.
In addition to starring in ‘Saba,’ Mehazabien also served as a producer for the film. Other producers include Arifur Rahman, Tamim Abdul Majid, Trilora Khan, Maksud Hossain, and Barkat Hossain Polash. The cinematography was handled by Barkat Hossain Polash, with music composed by Amman Abbasi.
Mehazabien expressed her feelings about the project, saying, “’Saba’ will always hold a special place in my heart, considering the story, character, production, co-artists, and the opportunity to work with talented behind-the-scenes professionals.”
The film features Mehazabien in the titular role, alongside Rokeya Prachi and Mostafa Monwar. The story and screenplay were written by Trilora Khan and Maksud Hossain.
The Toronto International Film Festival, which runs until September 15, has selected 24 films for its Discovery programme this year, with 20 of them having their world premieres at the event.
