RAB has arrested Sadiqur Rahman Ajla, 21, accused in the murder case of nephew of Awami League leader Azadur Rahman Azad, a councilor of Ward 20 of Sylhet City Corporation. On Saturday (December 19), the RAB raided the Tilagarh Bhatatikar area of the city and arrested him. A foreign revolver and one round of ammunition were seized from his custody at the time.
Md. Was arrested. Sadiqur Rahman Ajla is the elder brother of Councilor Azad and son of late Sajjadur Rahman Saju, former Municipal Commissioner. According to a press release issued by RAB-9, RAB-9’s Deputy Commander Major Md. Shawkatul Monayem and Assistant Superintendent of Police Obaine led an expedition team of Sadar Company to arrest him. Arrested Ajla is accused in a murder case of Shahparan police station in 2016. A case against him (No. 04 (01) 2018) is pending in the court at Shahparan police station. A case has also been filed against him under the Arms Act.
