Entertainment Desk News :: District Shilpakala Academy, Munshiganj premiered a play titled ‘Payer Awaj Pawa Jay’ at its auditorium on Sunday.
‘Payer Awaj Pawa Jay’, a verse drama penned by Syed Shamsul Haq, has been directed by Shishir Rahaman.
The play highlights the sufferings of common people during the War of Independence in 1971 through the story of a rural woman. Her father, also the leader of the village, hands her over to a Pakistani army officer who promises to marry her, and the story moves forward.
Meherunnesa Tonni portrayed the character of the woman and Shishir Rahaman portrayed the father.
The stage and lighting were designed by Junaid Eusuf while the costume was designed by Jinat Jaouhari.
The play was staged under Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s project titled Chirayata Bangla Natak Manchayan, which has been launched to promote the works of Bengali playwrights.
