Desk News :: The ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday urged the party leaders and activists across Bangladesh to remain vigilant on streets with policemen.

While chairing a joint meeting between the AL leaders and presidents and general secretaries of AL Dhaka north city unit, Dhaka south city unit, Dhaka district unit and the ruling party lawmakers in the city, Quader also urged the leaders and activists to remain united as they were in the past two days.

‘I urge the leaders and activists of AL to remain vigilant on streets along with the police. Police cannot stay in all the areas,’ he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, announced what it called ‘peace rallies’ to continue until further direction.

He wanted to know the name of the leader of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s upcoming countrywide three-day blockade programmes while the party secretary general was in jail and most of the senior leaders were fugitive.
