US cautions its citizens against visiting to Bangladesh
Online Desk
The United States has listed Bangladesh as a ‘high risk’ country due to the increase in the number of coronavirus infections. The United States has warned its citizens against traveling to Bangladesh in such a situation.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the country’s main government agency for disease control and research, on Monday, added Bangladesh to its ‘high risk’ list as a travel destination.
However, besides Bangladesh, the organization has listed five other countries as ‘high risk. CNN reported this information in a report on Tuesday.
According to the report, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday added six countries to its ‘high-risk category for travel. Apart from Bangladesh, El Salvador, and Honduras in Central America. Besides, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Poland, and Fiji are also on this list.
The CDC has divided countries into three categories for the current situation of corona infection for travelers. These are Level 3 (high risk), Level 2, and Level 1.
Earlier, the CDC divided the countries into four categories based on the situation and risk of corona infection. These are low, medium, high, and very high-risk countries. But Level 3 rose to the top spot last April after the CDC revised its rating system to assess the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic for travelers.
According to CNN, the Level 3 category includes countries where more than 100 people per 100,000 inhabitants have been infected with the virus in the last 28 days. Also, Level 2 and Level 1 are considered ‘medium’ and ‘low’ risks respectively.
According to the report, as of July 25, there are more than 120 names in the Level 3 category as travel destinations. Roughly half of the 235 destinations on the CDC’s list are in this high-risk category.
The CDC’s Level 3 category includes France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and United Kingdom. There are even many other countries outside of Europe in this category. Which includes Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Thailand, and Turkey.
The CDC advises that anyone planning to travel to Level 3 category countries should be up-to-date with the Covid-19 vaccine. Being up to date means not only getting the primary vaccination but also getting the booster dose you are eligible for.
