Online Desk
For the first time ever, the name of Whitechapel, an important tube station of London, has been displayed in Bangla.
The name of the London Underground and London Overground station located on Whitechapel Road and Durward Street in the Whitechapel area of London, United Kingdom, can now be seen written in Bangla besides English signboard.
Bangladesh’s State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak posted pictures — on Facebook — of the Bangla sign outside the station.
“A special achievement for Bangladeshis. This is the first time that the name of a train station in London has been written in Bangla alongside in English. Thanks to everyone concerned,” he wrote.
Many Bangladeshi expatriates live in the Whitechapel area of London.
