Sylhet Osmani Hospital intern doctors will continue the strike

sylhetersomoy :: The intern doctors of Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital have announced that they will continue their strike till 12 noon tomorrow in protest against the beating of intern doctors, harassment and vandalism of nurses. They gave this information after a meeting with the hospital authorities on Tuesday (August 22) around 4:30 pm.
General Secretary of Intern Physicians Council, Shimant Majumder said that the meeting discussed about ensuring the safety of intern doctors. The Director of Osmani Hospital, Brigadier General Mahbub Alam Bhuiyan assured that there will be visible improvement by 12 o’clock tomorrow. If it is observed in our eyes, we will withdraw our strike.
It is known that a patient died while undergoing treatment in Ward No. 35 of the hospital on Monday afternoon. The relatives of the patient discussed the incident with the doctors and nurses of the hospital. The intern doctors complained that the patient’s relatives harassed the intern doctors and nurses on duty in the ward. Meanwhile, the doctors ran to the next ward and defended themselves.
Then the patient’s relatives ransacked the doctor’s room and the nurse’s room inside the ward. Osmani Medical College Hospital Intern Physician Council called for an indefinite strike in protest of this incident.
After calling for a strike, the Osmani Medical College Hospital authorities held two rounds of meetings with the intern doctors, but the agitators did not withdraw from the strike. Today again the agitating intern doctors sat in a meeting with Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital authorities to solve the problem. After the meeting, they announced to continue the strike till 12 o’clock on Wednesday (August 23).
