US alone can’t impose any hard decision on Bangladesh: Quader

Desk News :: Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said that the United States could not take any hard decision on Bangladesh alone as the country’s friends in Asia and Pacific region were not echoing the same with the US.

‘America could not impose any hard decision on Bangladesh alone as the country’s friends in Asia and Pacific region are not echoing the same,’ he said responding to a question whether US would take any action against Bangladesh after the election.

Quader, also the road, transport and bridges minister, in a press briefing in Dhaka, also said that European Union and the US had a tussle over going hard line over Bangladesh issues.

Reffering to the prime minister’s speech, he said that Bangladesh would not import from those countries that would impose restrictions on the country.

Speaking about Wednesday’s meeting with Jatiya Party, he said, ‘We discussed about the country’s political situation and how to contain the anti-election forces through united efforts.‘

He claimed that there was no discussion over seat-sharing with Jatiya Party.

Asked about whether AL would join elections in a coalition with Jatiya Party, he said that they did not discuss about the issue and yet to take the decision.

AL presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, its joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretary Mirza Azam and office secretary Biplab Barua, among others, were present at the briefing.
