Sylhet-3 by-election: Information of affidavits of Atiq-Habib-Shafi and Junaid

Independent candidate and BNP leader (expelled) Shafi Ahmed Chowdhury is among the four candidates whose nomination papers were validated in the Sylhet-3 (South Surma, Fenchuganj and Balaganj) by-elections.
Awami League candidate Habibur Rahman Habib has a maximum joint loan of Tk 9.59 crore. Jatiya Party candidate Atiqur Rahman Atiq has houses and land in Sylhet, Habiganj and Dhaka.
Bangladesh Congress candidate Junaid Mohammad Miah has no bank loan or debt. The information was obtained by reviewing the affidavits submitted by the candidates to the Election Commission.

Muhammad Israil Hossain, Returning Officer of Sylhet-3 constituency and Sylhet Regional Election Officer, said that according to the provisions, candidates have to submit the statement of total assets by attaching it to the nomination form. An affidavit with the signature of the candidate has to be submitted by swearing through a lawyer.
If any information is hidden in it, the nomination paper of the candidate will be canceled according to the law. If there is any such specific allegation against any candidate, the allegation can be made even after taking the vote. Someone can even go to court with information and evidence in this regard.

Habibur Rahman Habib
Awami League nominated candidate and Sylhet district Awami League member Habibur Rahman Habib graduated. According to the affidavit, no criminal case has been filed against him in the past. Habib Prabasi, a businessman by profession, is the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Palli Group. He has no income of his own.
The wife earns 1 lakh 26 thousand 450 taka a year from the agricultural sector. As immovable property, he has 6 lakh 52 thousand 5 rupees in cash in his own name and 1 crore 69 lakh 56 thousand 830 taka in cash in his wife’s name. He has Tk 52,244 in his own name and Tk 9,448 in his wife’s name. He has 3,500 shares in his own name, valued at Tk 8 lakh 10 thousand.
As immovable property, he has 5 lakh 39 thousand 398 taka of non-agricultural land in his name. There is an 8 katha plot in Purbachal in his own name, the value of which is 16 lakh 75 thousand taka .
He has a bank loan in joint ownership. The loan amount in the name of Purbachal Prabasi Palli Limited is 9 crore 59 lakh taka. He is a resident of Dhargaon Rajabari (Part) in South Surma.

Atiqur Rahman Atiq
Jatiya Party nominated candidate and party presidium member Atiqur Rahman Atiq passed B.Sc. According to the affidavit, he was an accused in a criminal case (1172/2001) in the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court. The case was dismissed as innocent. Atik Prince, a businessman by profession, is the Chairman and Managing Director of the Group of Companies. He owns three businesses, Prince Real Estate (Pvt) Ltd., Prince Medical Center and Sylhet City Medical Center.
Atik earns 11 lakh 20 thousand rupees annually and his dependents earn 3 lakh 46 thousand taka. He has 22 lakh 7 thousand 493 taka in his own name and 6 lakh 45 thousand taka in his wife’s name as movable property. 20 lakh 60 thousand 189 taka is deposited in his own name and 5 lakh taka is deposited in his wife’s bank.

Prince Real Estate (Pvt.) Ltd. owns 18,000 shares in his own name, valued at Rs. Millions of taka. He has a jeep worth Tk 10 lakh in his name.
The Prado car worth Rs 35 lakh – which he uses as MD – is in the company’s name. There is 10 ounces of gold worth Tk 6 lakh in his name and 25 ounces of gold worth Tk 16 lakh 25 thousand in his wife’s name, 9 lakh 12 thousand 500 taka in his own name and 2 lakh rupees worth of electronic items in his wife’s name and 2 lakh taka in his name and furniture worth 1 lakh in his wife’s name. .
In his own name, Sylhet Medical Center has shares worth Tk 2.5 lakh and Prince Medical Center has equipment worth Tk 30 lakh.

As immovable property, he owns 15 hundred acres of land in Hargauri mouza of South Surma worth Tk. 3 lakh 56 thousand and paddy land worth Rs. 5 lakh in Lakhai of Habiganj. In the name of his wife, he owns 10 kathas of land in Dhaka’s Satarkul Mouza (Nikunj) worth Tk 60,000 and 6 bighas of land worth Tk 40 lakh in Jahanpur in Moglabazar under joint ownership.
4 lakh 50 thousand taka received from RAJUK in Nikunj-2 Joar Sahara mouza of Dhaka in his own name, 4 katha of 60 thousand taka in Rampura Ulan mouza, 5 and a half hundred taka in Shyamoli residential area of Habiganj and 38 hundred taka land of 45 thousand taka He owns a house worth Tk 35 lakh, a flat worth Tk 9.5 lakh at Kalachandpur in Dhaka (Baridhara North) and a flat worth Tk 40,56,525 on Baridhara 6 Park Road.
In the name of his wife, he owns a flat in Gulshan-2 (Road-35) worth Tk 26 lakh 45 thousand and a flat worth Tk 40 lakh 57 thousand 525 in Baridhara-6 Park Road.
In the name of his son Waliur Rahman, there is a flat worth Tk 2 lakh 25 thousand in Kalachandpur, Dhaka. Jointly owned, ancestral house and non-agricultural land worth Tk. An ancestral house worth Tk 3 crore on the north bank of Dhopadighi in the city, Gulshan-114 in Dhaka, apartments worth Tk 19.90 lakh in the name of the company, apartments worth Tk 12.98 lakh in Banani (Road-23, Block-B) and joint ownership in the name of the company on Park Road in Baridhara. Two and a half thousand square feet flat worth 90 lakh taka.
Atiq has a bank loan of Tk 1.20 crore in his own name, in the name of his wife and 3 sons. He mentioned in the affidavit that the loan was taken jointly from Standard Chartered Bank as a home loan. Atiq is a resident of Jahanpur in Moglabazar of South Surma.

Shafi Ahmad Chowdhury
Independent candidate and BNP central member (expelled) Shafi Ahmad Chowdhury passed BA. According to the information given in the affidavit, he became the accused in the case in 2006 (Section-406/420/201/109/411 / Penal Code). Case No. 20 (2) 2006 of South Surma Police Station. He was acquitted of the case as it was not proved beyond doubt.
Profession Indenting Trader (Export Trader) Shafi Chowdhury Albert DeWitt, Acting Managing Director of Pvt. Businessman Shafi Chowdhury’s annual income is 80 lakh 13 thousand 57 taka. Of this, he earned 50 lakh 69 thousand 326 taka from business, 26 lakh 98 thousand 925 taka from house rent and 1 lakh 25 thousand 26 taka from bank interest. The bank has 2 crore 8 lakh 512 taka in cash and deposit in its own name.
He owns shares in various businesses including Continental Travels Limited, Continental Fishery and Agro Limited, Transcom Security Limited, National Tea Company Limited. Alvert Debit (BD) Limited has deposit money and shares. He owns 500 bighas of land in the joint ownership obtained from ancestral sources.
There is a house worth Tk 1 crore 11 lakh in his name on Road No. 69 of Gulshan-2 in the capital Dhaka. There is a new (Rain Rover Jeep) car worth Tk 48 lakh 26 thousand 648 and an old car worth Tk 2 lakh.
He has invested 39 crore 9 lakh 32 thousand 79 taka in various businesses. He owns a total of 49 crore 25 lakh 4 thousand 394 taka worth of assets, both movable and immovable. He has a debt of 6 crore 5 lakh 63 thousand 571 taka. He has taken a loan of Tk 6 crore 17 lakh 8 thousand 26 from a close relative through banking. Saira Chowdhury has taken a loan of 69 lakh 545 taka.
He is a resident of West Daudpur in South Surma. He was a Member of Parliament in this constituency in the past. He mentioned in his affidavit a list of his achievements as a
Member of Parliament.

Junaid Mohammad Mia
Bangladesh Congress nominee Junaid Mohammad Mia is self-taught. According to the affidavit, no case was ever filed against him. Junaid, a farmer by profession, earns Tk 2.25 lakh annually from agriculture and Tk 20,000 from shop rent.
As movable assets, he has 2 lakh 45 thousand taka in cash in his name, 3 and a half lakh taka deposited in the bank, 1 gram of gold worth 60 thousand taka, a mobile set worth 10 thousand rupees, furniture worth 60 thousand taka.

He has immovable property, 10.145 acres of agricultural land in his own name, 1 hundred acres of land worth Tk. He is a resident of Mohammadpur in Balaganj upazila. He has no bank loan.

By the way, the by-election vote will be taken on July 28 in this constituency.
