News Desk :: A fire that broke out at a clothing warehouse in Bhanga Press area of Demra in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Thursday night, has been brought under control after over eight hours, said a fire service official.<\/p>\n
Ten firefighting units brought the fire under control at about 8:00am on Friday, said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director of Fire service and Civil Defence (media cell).<\/p>\n
The fire broke out at about 11:30pm on Thursday, officials said.<\/p>\n
Members of the Bangladesh Navy also joined to bring the fire under control, according to a statement of the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the morning, FSCD Director (Training, Planning and Development) and Incident Commander Lt Col Md Rezaul Karim visited the spot and said the amount of damage could be ascertained after investigation.<\/p>\n
The affected building and buildings next to it don\u2019t have even an inch of gap between them. The firemen faced difficulty entering the building because of the narrow staircase. Water from drains had to be used to control the fire as there were not enough water supplies nearby, he added.<\/p>\n
