Entertainment Desk :: Theatre troupe Prachyanat staged its production titled Khwabnama at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka on Friday.<\/p>\n
Khwabnama, the 37th production of the theatre troupe, is an adaptation of eminent fiction writer Akhtaruzzaman Elias\u2019 much-acclaimed novel with the same title. It has been adapted by Shaokat Hossain and directed by Kazi Toufiqul Islam Emon.<\/p>\n
The play gives the audience a glimpse into the history of Bengal towards the end of British colonial rule, revolving around the lives of people during the partition of India in 1947. It also depicts socio-political issues, sectarian violence, the conflict between peasants and landlords and others.<\/p>\n
Kazi Toufiqul Islam Emon told New Age that they were not able to stage the production due to various reasons.<\/p>\n
\u2018In this new political situation, we started again to perform our plays. Still, the premise of the Shilpakala Academy is not in normal situation. The army is still staying there,\u2019 said Toufiqul Islam.<\/p>\n
Mentioning that Prachyanat staged the 15th show of the production, the theatre activist added, \u2018But, we wanted to start our cultural activity because that\u2019s what a theatre troupe for, that\u2019s how they can say their political views towards country, people, and society.\u2019<\/p>\n
Shakhawat Hossain Rezvi, Sahana Rahman Sumi, Itmam, Chetona Rahman, Mitul Rahman, Diana, Shormi, Saidur Shahin, Biplob, Murtoja Shuvo, Saim Bin Mujib, Ratul Roy and Urmi Saha have portrayed different characters in the play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
